Imitating Ads... Thanks Ms Leo.

Imitating Ads is based on a blog by Ms. Leo www.i-luv-dolls.blogspot.com
The object was to find an ad and create  a doll from the ad.
This was so much fun. Thanks Ms. Leo for this suggestion. Everyone should try this.

I found my ad in a magazine while I was at B&N. I quickly snapped a photo on my cell phone.  I instantly fell in love with all of the colors and thought to myself.... mmmm that would make a great doll!

The key was finding the right doll to use!
I chose the Fashionista doll...

Take a look

Diorama's and a new repaint.

Hey guys, sorry its been a while since my last post. My day job has me running at full speed! Fighting crime has really been exhausting and has not left me with much time to spend with my repaints or dioramas :(
I did manage to get one diorama completed! I also have a few pics that were never posted of Danica and her friends in other completed dios.  I still have many more things in the works (including the finishing of the Chynadolls Dio) and a bedroom scene to say the least.
So many ideas and not enough hours in the day!

Well duty calls :)
I'm off to continue my crime fighting :)  Keep me in your prayers
Until next time..
blessings
Cecile :)

Introducing the Dio's and repaint :)

Danica

This dio was created using dollar store items and a cardboard box
Dollar store items are as follows:
Chairs (candle votives) material and a sock
was used for the cushion.
Table base (candle votive)
Glass table top
Shot glass holding the flower tree.
White dog (was originally brown and black)

The table flower was made using a cork from wine :)
Bar in back was made using a small box( that held staples )
It was covered in white contact paper and then had a mirror
with smaller square mirrors attached with a glue gun.
Lamps are made with beads, craft wire and paper.
Sparkle hanging design is a christmas ornament.
Tiles on floor are from home depot :)
Bar bottles are re-ment found on ebay
Backdrop is a cereal box cut open, covered with contact paper
and a picture of flowers printed on the computer.

This is a the before pic of a doll from the flea market.

During her makeover repaint

Introducing Janea
Her face was repainted using artistic acrylics/ pastels and
sealers.

A few interesting things about this set is the statue and
wall art.
This was made by using a printed image found on line (pic in frame)
Then the same color concept was used on the statue behind Janea.
The statue is a Ken body ( found in the flea market) The body was
in good shape, however the head was a mess and not able to be repainted. It had
permanent ink on the face etc! It was beyond my patience LOL.
I painted the body in a gun metal grey. Then applied paper
mixed with water and glue to adhere  it to the body. I added the colors that I wanted then I
sealed the entire body.

End Tables are made from craft paper rolled and glued
As well as the lamp shades. Lamp base is made from
beads and craft wire.

This dio was made using the following:
table base: small glass cup from dollar store.
Mirror top from craft store.
The chairs are made from using tomato sauce cans.
The label was removed and was replaced with
craft paper. It was then fitted with a back made using
cardboard and the same craft paper. The entire chair was
then painted white and fitted with a black and white
cushion made from material and a baby sock.
Flowers are from the dollar store as well. They were cut to
scale and fitted in different vases.

Fireplace was made using a cardboard box covered
with craft paper that has a raised finish.  Bottom
of the fireplace was cut out and fitted with black duck tape
and craft paper.

The abstract art on top of the fireplace was made using
beads and craft wire. Books were made using craft foam
and printed paper.

Introducing Danica the artist

Upon starting any repaint or diorama, the idea starts forming in my head  a while before completion. The idea for this diorama formed in my head three months ago. It did not materialize due to the fact that I had not gotten the doll that I needed to complete this project. Well... Valentines day, my wonderful husband Hampton purchased the new line of S.I.S dolls + one extra Marisa :) I was extremely excited! I had visualized this diorama and now I was gonna be able to execute it whoo hoo!

The inspiration for this diorama is my handsome brother Denys Cowan. He is a well known artist/ producer in the comic industry. He has done numerous pieces of art for the last umpteen years LOL. He has produced episodes of the Boondocks (animated cartoon ) . He did the art work for Static Shock which was also an animated cartoon on the WB network here in the East Coast. To learn more about my brother and see some of his work, just Google his name or type it into Wikipedia. A whole bunch of stuff on him pops up :)
I am a huge fan of his work and am always inspired by him.

So..... having said all of that,
Here is my newest Diorama featuring Danica The Artist

This is the before pic of  Marisa

Danica in her art studio. She just finished doing a portrait
of my brother.  That picture (a self portrait)was actually done by
Denys. Some of his work is featured
throughout the diorama.   It is up against the wall, on the floor
and there is a tiny pic of him with a cap on just behind Danica's
chair :)

Danica has been repainted using artistic acrylics
and sealers. Her hair has had saran hair added to her
own to make it longer, change the style and add body.

This diorama features several hand made items.  Bookcase is
from tiny popsicles, books,  ipod , ipad2 , pencils and watercolor pencils are all
handmade. Floral water color pic was duplicated by me :) The art on the wall
"The Creation Of Man" is a printout from the computer and not done
by my brother. The flower
vases are made from beads and little pieces of glass,  and of
course there is my favorite little pipe cleaner puppy!
