A new addition to the family :)

Last Saturday, I was given yet another doll baby to clean and fix up from Frannie. www.thriftstoredolls.blogspot.com
He was a bit messy when he arrived but after a wonderful bath and a little touch up here and there, he is a little cutie pie :) Thanks again Frannie for this lovely Thrift Store Find :)

This is how the little one arrived. I had not named
yet because looking at him in this state, it was hard to come up
with an appropriate name. My husband walked
in the room, looked at him and said to call him
ashy! I fell out of my chair laughing!!!
He was looking a bit dusty/ ashy in color
and had scary eyes and slightly
pinkish lips O_O !

Meet Dillon :)
Here he is after a nice bath & repainted full face.
I had to give him a total repainted face including
his skin tone to make him look less chalky/ashy/dusty
I then repainted his eyebrows and eyes and removed
the pinkish lip color and gave him a softer lip to match
his skin tone :)

I think he looks quite pleased with his new look.
He is wearing a thrift store find outfit onesie/bib
and sock for just three bucks.  It used to belong
to lil Rusty but I don't think he minds one bit.

Dillon & Alicia
My husband just looks at them now and shakes his head! *Mumbling something about extra folks
gonna have to start paying rent*!
He said they are taken over. He moved them off the couch and  put them
by the fireplace because he claims they keep looking at him
like they are hungry LOL

A Chynadoll Creations Extreme Home Makeover

Ok, so I recently acquired a two story Barbie home (from a very good friend,  :) They know my love of Barbie, saw this thing and decided to bring it to my house a few weeks ago. I instantly fell in love with it and decided to start doing it over. I will show you the before and after pics as I do each room. The first room I wanted to redo is the bedroom. I made a new bed comforter and did a repaint.

Take a look.....

This is what I got. Everything in this picture:)

Bedroom before

Baby room before

Relaxing on her new comforter and lavish
pillows

A view after I put up the other painted wall.

This is the redone bathroom. It was repainted
bright white and tile was laid for the floor and
back splash.

Towel shelf was built, shower curtain made and
hung and bam! Bathroom remake LOL

This is my favorite room. The white crib was
spray painted chocolate. The walls
were painted brilliant white and then
the whole room was done in a jungle
animal baby print.  This shot was taken
when the sun was coming into the room.

Night time view.  The baby's bedding has all
been hand sewn by me. It features a fitted sheet /
flat sheet and quilt. There is also a hand made mural on the
wall.  I plan to hang a few little baby outfits on the back
wall on tiny hangers once they are made.

That is what I have so far for the top floor :)
Stay tuned for the bottom floor in a future post

Red Tails.

This weekend the movie Red Tails opened. I saw it today and it was beyond good! I strongly recommend everyone see and support this film. It is a part of American history that should never be forgotten.

The Tuskegee Airman
were an elite group of African-American pilots in the 1940s. They were pioneers in equality and integration of the Armed Forces. The term  "Tuskegee Airmen" refers to all who were involved in the Army Air Corps program to train African Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft. The Tuskegee Airmen included pilots, navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors, and all the personnel who kept the planes in the air.

The primary flight training for these servicemembers took place at the Division of Aeronautics of Tuskegee Institute. Air Corps officials built a separate facility at Tuskegee Army Air Field to train the pilots. The Tuskegee Airmen not only battled enemies during wartime but also fought against racism and segregation thus proving they were just as good as any other pilot.  Racism was common during World War II and many people did not want blacks to become pilots. They trained in overcrowded classrooms and airstrips, and suffered from the racist attitude of some military officials. The Tuskegee Airman suffered many hardships, but they proved themselves to be world class pilots.

Even though the Tuskegee Airmen proved their worth as military pilots they were still forced to operate in segregated units and did not fight alongside their white countrymen.

The men earned the nickname "Red Tail Angels" since the bombers considered their escorts  "angels" and the red paint on the propeller and tail of their planes.

In March of 1942 George Roberts, Benjamin Davis Jr., Charles BeBow Jr., Mac Ross and Lemuel Custis received silver wings of Army Air Force pilots. These men completed the standard Army flight classroom instruction and many hours of flight time. Receiving their silver wings marked a milestone in being the first African Americans to qualify as military pilots in any branch of the armed forces.

By the end of the war, 992 men had graduated from Negro Air Corps pilot training at Tuskegee; 450 were sent overseas for combat assignment. During the same period, about 150 lost their lives while in training or on combat flights. These black Airmen manage to destroy or damage over 409 German airplanes, 950 ground units, and sank a battleship destroyer. They ran more than 200 bomber escort missions during World War II.

On Nov. 6, 1998, President Clinton approved Public Law 105-355, which established the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site at Moton Field in Tuskegee, Ala., to commemorate and interpret the heroic actions of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.

When the site opened Oct. 10, 2008, at Moton Field, Ala., National Park Officials designated part of Interstate 85, which passes near the city of Tuskegee, as the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Highway.

Major contribution by Airman Brian Butkus, 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs

I had the pleasure of meeting two of the Tuskegee Airman
at the Air and Space museum in DC.  I was
photographed with Mr George Hickman and got an copy
of his autographed book.  It was such an honor for me.

I purchased these action figures quite some
years ago from K*B toys before they closed.

I'm on a Monster High !!!

Ever since I purchased my Monster high doll "Clawdeen" I have been on a monster high LOL. I love this doll! Thanks to "Hey its Muff's" post on her, I have been  on the look out for her. Since I got her, I have been having a ball with her .

I also recently  got my fantastic giveaway prize from Debbie at "Black doll Collecting", which was a new fashionista body and a few other goodies ( included in that bunch of goodies was a beautiful Barbie Fashionista Swappin Style head styled by Debbie, who after she has been repainted and fit on her body will be featured) I used that body for the swap :)
I think Clawdeen likes the swap!

I decided not to do a full repaint of   Clawdeen's  face (although I was tempted) because I happen to like the way she looks. I did however brighten her eye colors, repaint her eyelashes and give her new eyebrows and earrings :)
On her new body, along side her old one.

Love those boots!

Featuring repainted eyebrows, eyelashes and given
an eye pop color.

Come On Mattel! What is the deal?????

I went to Toys R US to day to scoop up the Coupe after seeing it on Vanessa's blog at Fashion dolls at Van's Doll Treasures, I just had to have it. While I was there, I also picked up my first Monster High doll because of Hey its muff and her beautiful pics of Claudeen Wolf in those killer boots. While I was there, I peeked at a few dolls and one in particular caught my eye! I looked at it twice cause I could not believe what I was seeing. Take a look:

Take a look at this doll!

Now take another look! What is the problem?

Why in the world would Mattel make a doll with
one articulated arm?

It is just darn right crazy!!!
I have seen it all! Get it together Mattel!!!

Chilling in the Coupe
