Mass Blogger Interview
From Ms. Leo's Mass Blogger Interview Post my responses are as follows:

1. When did you start collecting dolls?

I started my adult collection back in 1989. I have been playing with, and had dolls as a child ( I would post that pic, however I cant find it at this time LOL)

2. My first purchase, mm I am not sure! I purchased the set below shortly after I started collecting . The Barbie Harley Davidson collection. There are six of the dolls here and the Motorcycle. I believe that I am missing two of them! Darn it!

3. How many dolls do you own?

Hmmm, gotta wonder if my hubby will read this so I will just say oh... 300 or so :D

4. My favorite doll and why?

My favorite doll at the moment is my last repaint. It changes after each repaint though :D

I also love the S.I.S dolls. They are my absolute fav to repaint.

5. What dolls are your least favorite and why?

My least favorite dolls are the Moxie Girlz and those Stardolls!  Also not to keen on most of the Monster High dolls. I only like the Wolf family :)
They rest have creepy little bodies
and funny eyes!

6.What is your biggest challenge about collecting dolls?

STORAGE ! My hubby says that these dolls are taking over :)

7. How do you display your dolls?

Interesting question! They are usually displayed in glass display cases throughout my home, or in my studio in various areas all over the place.
My hubby walks in shakes his head and walks out ha ha!

The rest are in my storage unit! Way to many to have at home!

A few of my Byron Lars collection

Frankie and his girls

Girls given to me when I got married. They were the gold colors of my wedding. The other colors were chocolate and cream.

Hey  Muff, here is one of the My Scene Madison repaints.
There is a previous post on one of my earlier blogs where you can
see better pics of her.

Here is yet another My Scene Madison repaints.

8.  How do I store my dolls?

I store the ones for repainting in plastic bins in my studio and others to be photographed all over the studio, the rest are in my storage unit in plastic bins. I usually go there once a month to see if there is some thing I want to sell, redo or just get rid of:)

Below are pics of dolls just hanging out in my studio :)

9. Have you ever been to a doll show?
I have been to a comic con if that counts lol. They have cool male action figures.

10. When you travel, do you look for dolls?
Absolutely!

11.What is your latest purchase?
Here they are :)

I have been eyeing these dolls every since I saw them on a few posts:)

Love this doll!

Flea market find

12. What doll is on your wish list right now?

At the moment, maybe a Claude Wolf, another Claudeen and the new S.I.S articulated dolls coming out

13. What doll do you wish you did not purchase?

Mmm,  every doll I purchased was on purpose. Be it for the body, clothing or whatever, It all goes to use.
Then the ones I don't repaint or use, get donated to my children at church or some other children in need:)

I am currently on a project where I was asked to donate a few dolls for charity to a women's shelter (for their children) I am donating 30 dolls ( that I am redoing) to them for this Christmas holiday.

A few of my doll friends (Anika of Dollz 4 moi, and Frannie of Thrift store dolls  has been really instrumental in helping me with this project. Thanks ladies, We miss you Frannie. (Get well soon so we can resume our playing :)

14.What is your favorite doll related item?

My paints and everything associated with repainting and redoing them :)

15. How often do you photograph your dolls, and what is the most photographed?

I photograph every doll I repaint or diorama I do. Lots of pics don't make it to blogger but are in my portfolio :)

16. Do you talk to other collectors in person or just on the web?

I have my dolly peeps that I hang out with in person (on a regular  basis lately lol) We have a blast!
Also, I am all over the web with numerous dolly friends near and far.

17. If you had a chance to speak to Mattel or other toy makers, what would you say?

Please listen to the adult collectors as well! We are also spending money on your toys etc.

Articulate each and every doll!

Stop making dolls with chicken arms and legs or having half articulation!

More body types and a variety of dolls of color! More male dolls of color please!

18. What doll do you wish would be reissued?

My Scene and the whole Happy Family AA collection.

19. What two dolls would you combine and how would you want them combined?

Hmmm. I will leave that to Muff! She is the wiz at that! As long as I can repaint them and they move, Im good LOL

The End!!

Ok so its not the end :) .....

Here  are a few more dolly pics.

Thanks for taking the time to read this:)

  3. Hi,

I really enjoyed all your pictures! I especially like the gold wedding angel doll. Your studio dioramas are very detailed and stylish. It was also neat to see your work space. Did you make the Sesame Street tops on the kids?

I love Moxie Teenz Arizona too only I put a Liv head on her.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. The My Scene packs are killing me! Wow, they really made great stuff for them. Natural colors, well made clothing and awesome vespa! Now everything is all pink and glitter. Bah.

That's not a studio, that's a factory! You have got it going on in there. And your boxed collection is amazing.

I loved seeing everything. Thanks so much for posting this (and Ms. Leo for getting the ball rolling!)

  5. Awesome interview! I loved all of your pics! That is great that your hubby got you the My Scene dolls...they are no where to be found around here.

My room (Obesession) looks like your studio. Lol! I have a taken some before shots, and plan to post about it one day. I need to get the room in a more decent shape. Lol!

  6. Wonderful interview and pictures! Great to see all your dolls and your workspace. Weren't the MyScene dolls caught up in the Mattel/Bratz lawsuit? I think that was part of the lawsuit on the Bratz company side. I remember reading something about that when I was enthralled with the whole case. They did have really nice clothes and accessories. That's why it doesn't make sense that Mattel doesn't have a clothes line that is a little more sophisticated.

  13. Chynadoll,

I am behind on reading the blogs I follow, but the opportunity finally presented itself for me to get somewhat caught up.

I enjoyed reading your answers to Ms. Leo's interview questions. Who knew you were a collector, too. I just thought you were an artist. Your collection is very well displayed. I love the glass cases and what I see as great organization.

I understand completely the male-shaking-head syndrome that your husband and mine suffer from. Just yesterday, this one walked in my doll room, shook his head and said, "There's no hope in me trying to help you keep this room organized. The more space I create, the more you fill it up."

300 dolls, huh? For some reason, I think this is a gross underestimate.
    :-)

  14. Wow, what a great interview! Thanks so much for posting all of the photos. I need better ideas on how to display my dolls, and how to create a workspace for myself. My mother-in-law gave me a sewing machine, and I really need to make space for it somehow, somewhere. I want to start painting, also.

  15. Can't believe that I am just getting to this post. I kept thinking I had read it
    already!?

Where to begin? Oh, I love the diorama where the 2 friends are at the bar. That was one of my favorites of your posts. Love your kiddies, too. Awwww ... the Sesame shirts. Photos of your collection. (Yes, I am nosy, peeking at how others display their collections, etc.)

Thanks for responding as generously as you did. I need to go back in case I missed anything ;-D
